Five months after teachers walked out of their classrooms in protest of education funding, several political leaders from around the nation joined them in a rally today in Oklahoma City.
The rally took place at Northwest Classen High School. Teachers said they haven’t forgotten what happened in April, and they’ll remember in November.
After last spring’s teacher walkout, ninety-nine teachers ran for office. and fifty-six are still in the running.
Oklahoma Education Association President, Alicia Priest said, “Eight of the legislators who voted against the funding measure that would ensure enough money for teacher and support raises in support of school funding, lost in their primaries or the run-offs.”
