Colorado Center on Law and Policy & Fiscal Policy Institute

The Colorado Center on Law and Policy is a coalition of community-based organizations, individuals, advocates, educators and nonprofits whose stated mission is “to promote justice and economic security for all Coloradans, particularly lower income people.” CCLP advocates on behalf of the poor, working poor and other vulnerable populations though legislative, administrative and legal advocacy. It also “works toward the development of adequate and fair fiscal policies that will benefit all Coloradans, especially low and moderate income populations.”

Colorado Children's Campaign

Colorado Children's Campaign, established in 1985, describes its mission as mobilizing individuals and organizations to think and act on behalf of all Colorado children and their well-being. CCC accomplishes this goal by stimulating dialogue and providing information on children's issues such as health, education, safety and economic stability. CCC also works with child advocates and government committees to raise awareness on improving the lives of children.

Colorado Parent Information and Resource Center

The Colorado Parent Information and Resource Center describes itself as the creator of a partnership of Colorado organizations that are working to give parents and professionals the necessary information and resources they need to facilitate parental participation in learning. The Center works in partnership with the Colorado Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in the fields of parent involvement, leadership development, and advocacy.

Colorado Protectors of Public Schools (COPOPS)

Colorado Protectors of Public Schools (COPOPS) describes itself as a statewide, grassroots organization consisting of parents and citizens who support and value public education and who have joined together to voice their concerns to Colorado legislators. They accomplish this task through questionnaires in order to learn the position of legislators and legislative candidates on key education funding issues; through endorsements and voter guides to inform COPOPS members what candidates support public education; and through campaign contributions to help elect legislators who will work to protect Colorado's public schools.

Great Education Colorado

Great Education Colorado, recently launched in 2005, describes itself as a nonpartisan, grassroots organization of public school supporters, which advocates for adequate funding for K-12 education in Colorado. The organization's main focus is on informing public school supporters about critical issues in school funding through its web-site, newsletters, and events. Great Education Colorado also works with its supporters to empower them to be vocal advocates for Colorado's public schools.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF)

MALDEF describes itself as a nonprofit Latino litigation, advocacy and educational outreach institution. According to MALDEF, its mission is to foster sound public policies, laws and programs to safeguard the civil rights of Latinos living in the United States and to empower the Latino community to fully participate in our society.

Padres Unidos (Denver Chapter)

Padres Unidos is a grassroots organization led by a volunteer board of community activist Latino parents. Its mission is to promote quality education for all children through institutional reform and community control of the schools. Through parent education, training, and community organizing, Padres Unidos increases parent knowledge and participation in their child's education, and unites them to advocate for educational justice and equality.
