The Georgia School Council Institute
describes itself as a nonprofit organization created to provide support and assistance
to local Georgia schools as they form school councils. The Institute has developed
training programs for council members, including on-line training, printed manuals,
and workshops, as well as a database containing information about student assessment
scores. The organization sees local school councils as potentially effective tools
for providing better education by involving parents, educators, and the business
community, and other stakeholders to improve their local schools. The Georgia
School Council Institute is a member of the Columbia
Group Southeastern Partnership Network, an education-reform policy organization.

Partnership for Excellence in Education (GPEE) The Georgia
Partnership for Excellence in Education describes itself as a nonprofit, nonpartisan
organization that works to bring together leaders from education, communities,
business, and state governments in order to improve both state- and local-level
education and achievement in Georgia. The Partnership believes that the best way
to accomplish its goals is to do research and policy on the state level while
supporting community efforts to design school improvement strategies on the local
level. The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education is a member of the
Columbia Group Southeastern
