Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL)

CABL describes itself as a nonpartisan statewide organization that aims to improve the quality of life for Louisiana's citizens. The Council considers education a crucial element of Louisiana's future, and so it works to raise standards and to promote public-school accountability. To that end, CABL has created and supported local education funds, which raise private money for public schools' needs, and it has supported the Louisiana Principal Internship Program, which trains local principals. The Council considers teacher quality to be one of the most important issues facing education reformers today. Some local education funds provide grant money for teachers with innovative instructional strategies. The Council for a Better Louisiana is a member of the Columbia Group Southerastern Partnership Network, an education-reform policy organization.
