Electronic Learning Marketplace The Electronic Learning Marketplace
is a collaborative project of the Southern Maine Partnership, the University of
Southern Maine's Department of Engineering and the Old Orchard Beach Schools.
Their website is a collaborative forum which offers a variety of resources to
help teachers and parents throughout the state prepare students for the Maine
Learning Results. In addition to a searchable MLR database, the Learning Marketplace
includes a collection of teacher-developed assessment projects aligned with the
Learning Results and a resource area for parents and community members which focuses
on the real-world implications of standards-based reform. Executive Director:

Maine Center for Educational Services The Maine Center for Educational
Services describes itself as an independent non-profit organization offering innovative
services to strengthen schools. Established in 1975, the Center organizes a number
of initiatives to help facilitate the integration of technology into the public
school environment. Among these are SEED (Spreading Educator to Educator Developments),
a unique professional development network, and STAR (Schools and Technology for
Assessment and Reflection), an internet resource that endeavors to bring the MLR

Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance Founded in 1992 as a National
Science Foundation initiative, The Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance (MMSA)
is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose goal is to improve science and mathematics
education in Maine. The MMSA endeavors to create, sustain, and extend an effective
learning environment that will support improved student performance in mathematics
and science. The MMAS states that its goal is for all Maine students to be given

Small High School Coalition
Founded in 2003, the Maine Small High
School Coalition is a group of schools, school districts, and individuals who
support smaller learning environments. The MSHC focuses on "developing and
sharing ways that member schools can offer a world-class education to their students
and communities" and "presenting a powerful and credible voice to advance
the assets and potential of small secondary schools in local, state, and national
policy circles." The organization maintains a collection of current research
