Minnesota Education Minnesota was created to provide a united voice
for those dedicated to public education reform and today is the largest education
organization in the state. Among the many branches of the organization, The Foundation
for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is a member-funded corporation that finances
education improvement projects designed by Education Minnesota members and nonprofit
organizations. In addition, Education Minnesota's negotiation department provides
collective bargaining consulting and research on public education employee contracts

Academic Excellence Foundation The Minnesota Academic Excellence
Foundation (MAEF) was founded in 1983, co-supported by the public and private
sectors through community-based partnerships. It was created in response to the
report A Nation at Risk, and was conceived as an innovative use of business, government
and education resources to address the issues of student achievement and school
performance. MAEF is administered by a Board of 22 Directors appointed by the
Governor to represent various business groups (60%) and education groups (40%).
The board also includes three ex officio student representatives. MAEF states
that it provides leadership in the design and implementation of programs that
increase student learning and ensure a voice for students in managing their own

Association for the Education of Young Children The Minnesota Association
for the Education of Young Children is a nonprofit association of over 1,500 professionals
in Early Childhood Education and related fields working together to promote the
professional growth and development of those who are committed to the care and
education of students. MAEYC's umbrella organization, The National Association
for the Education of Young Children, represents more than 90,000 members nationwide.

Minority Education Partnership, Inc. MMEP states that it is a nonprofit
collaborative seeking to increase the success of Minnesota students of color in
Minnesota schools, colleges and universities. Since 1987, MMEP has been a membership
organization that has worked closely with students, communities, and representatives
from education, business, government to develop programs that help students of
color succeed academically. The Partnership's Pre-College Initiative and Project
Empowerment are two programs whose mission is to work together to create an atmosphere
of student achievement and inspiration for post-secondary education. Executive

Parents United for Public Schools describes itself
as "a statewide, grassroots organization of concerned
and informed Minnesota parents and citizens committed
to Minnesota’s leadership in quality public education."
Its three stated missions are: "to actively educate
and engage a growing statewide network of parents and
other citizens who will act on behalf of Minnesota’s
public school children; hold elected officials accountable
for providing the necessary policies and funding to
enable public schools to meet state and federal academic
standards and allow all students to reach their highest
potential; and continually work with parents, school
officials, teachers, business and community leaders
across Minnesota to promote an environment in which
public schools can flourish."
