Coalition to Fund Excellent Schools

The Coalition to Fund Excellent Schools (CFES) describes itself as a diverse group of approximately 70 Missouri public school districts committed to building a brighter future for every public school student in the State by working towards a school funding formula that is both adequate and equitable for all districts. Committee for Educational Equality

The Committee for Educational Equality describes itself as a group which represents 252 school districts organized to address the shortcomings of Missouri’s school funding system. Its mission is to secure an equitable and adequate level of educational resources for the individual development of Missouri’s public school students. CEE first filed a lawsuit against Missouri in the early 1990s and won a favorable ruling in 1993 leading to Missouri’s Outstanding Schools Act of 1993. In January 2004, CEE filed a new suit against the state claiming the state’s school funding system has, for a number of reasons, become unconstitutional again.
