Public Education Forum

The Public Education Forum describes itself as a non-profit, non-partisan education policy research group that strives to enhance the quality of life in Mississippi by improving public education. The Forum's members consist chiefly of Mississippi businesspeople but also include state leaders in education and politics. The Forum's stated focus for this year is education accountability, both inside (standards and testing) and outside the classroom. The Forum's members believe that it is the responsibility of the entire community, and principally business leaders, the legislature, and parents, to provide resources and support for schools that must meet high standards. In February 2003, the Forum issued its Teacher Quality Task Force Report. The Public Education Forum is a member of the Columbia Group Southeastern Partnership Network, an education-reform policy organization.
