Nebraska Coalition for Educational Equity and Adequacy (NCEEA)

The Nebraska Coalition for Educational Equity and Adequacy describes itself as a statewide membership coalition that includes 70 school districts, 35 corporate and individual donors, and the Nebraska State Education Association, among others. The NCEEA states that it aims to provide children with a high quality education in their communities. As such, the NCEEA seeks, through legislative and judicial action, retention of small schools, to ensure place-based education, and local and state tax reform, to provide adequate funding.

Nebraska Schools Trust

The Nebraska Schools Trust is comprised of three school districts and states that its purposes are to: “assist and promote the improvement and advancement of public education” in Nebraska; “promote the rights of each student under Nebraska’s Constitution and laws;” and “promote an equal opportunity for each student to meet the academic standards set by . . . law.” In June 2003, the Nebraska Schools Trust filed a lawsuit against the governor, alleging that the current school funding system violates the state constitution.

The Foundation states that its mission is to support the Lincoln Public Schools by raising funds to support programs for the enhancement and enrichment of public education, by recognizing excellence in public education, and by reinforcing positive relations with the community.

Ventures in Partnerships

Ventures in Partnerships is a collaborative organization whose mission is to enhance the relationship and sharing of resources between communities and public schools. VIP describes itself as a conduit for school-community programs that help students connect classroom education with larger life lessons. The Partnerships' initiatives include the TeamMates Mentoring Program and Crayons to Computers. Both of these programs allows community members the opportunity to effectively dedicate time and material resources to public education.
