Direct Action
for Rights and Equality (DARE) DARE organizes low-income families
in communities of color to win economic, social and political justice. In 1999,
DARE launched the START (Students and Parents Taking Action for a Real Tomorrow)
Project, an intergenerational campaign designed to address the problems in the
Providence School System. Areas of focus: discipline policies, drop out rates. 340

The
Education Partnership
The mission of the Education Partnership is to increase
academic achievement in all public schools through
improved leadership and governing policies at the
state and local levels. The EP was born out of a combination
of three active and effective organizations (The Business
Education Roundtable, The Public Education Fund, and
The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce) all working
on the same goals albeit with little coordination
of efforts. These organizations have merged to create
a common vision, to speak with a common voice, and
to increase our presence throughout the state to help
and advocate for improved student achievement.
